Project opening: 2017 | Completed at Rockwell Group | Role: Interior Designer
Laura played a leading role in the design of this 12,500-square-foot restaurant. The Rockwell Group design team was tasked with rethinking the 20 year old iconic New York flagship to bring it’s brand and spirit into the interior landmarked beaux arts building where, on the lobby floor, no permanent construction could be done. Laura took as many opportunities as possible to specify sustainable finishes. FSC certified timber was used everywhere possible, walls in the downstairs space were coated with shikkui plaster, an air purifying Japanese finish made from finely ground upcycled eggshells. Chairs from the old restaurant were reused and reupholstered in bright colors nodding to Nobu’s Peruvian fusion culinary heritage.
